Testimonials
With over 50 years combined experience we have collected many cards, letters and other forms of thanks for the pups we have bred and sold to new owners. Here are just a few of the recent emails we have received from our clients who are delighted with their new pups.
What's going on with you guys? I miss hearing from you!
Knowing what I do
about how much you know about this breed, I can't help but take what you
tell me and accept it without offense, because I know the spirit in which
it is given. You had my respect long before I started talking with you
about getting a puppy - I am really glad you are one of those breeders who
stays with your puppy buyers and gives advice freely without being rude or
blowing them off. Thanks - you are wonderful for that!!
Take Care!!

Dear Donna' This thank-you letter is long overdue! Forgive me! However, I now have more 'good stuff' to mention to you. First of all, 'Harley' is doing fantastically! And, she is living up to the Sater-Nordlicht reputation - - - in spades! Harley blended in here immediately. She has taken to my old Shepherd Fancy, and Fance has adopted her and shown her the rules and procedures around here! Harley is about 90% house-trained, and would be almost completely, I think, except that she has a slight bladder infection, which we are treating, of course! (Matter-of-fact, our veterinarian Dr Larry Hudman, especially complimented Harley's balance and bone structure. Dr. Larry works with a lot of Shepherds, and he has mentioned that he has been seeing such poor quality, bad-temperamented Shepherds lately, that he was especially delighted to meet Harley!) Our mutual good friend Maureen Charlton ('Altana') visited Phoenix this week, and she was able to stop over for a bit on Tuesday. Maureen is thrilled with Harley! She complimented 'you all' on selling me such a high quality puppy; and she also said to send you her best. (Maureen also mentioned something about Robert 'had better have sold Tina a good puppy, or that she would have beat him up! But, I am sure that she was at least half-joking!?!?!?!?) Maureen believes that Harley is certainly show quality, and recommended a local handler to me. Surely, that is a very positive sign! Robert and Donna, until Haley joined my family, I had really not appreciated how 'skewed' my German Shepherd behavior standards had become over these last 6 years of doing 'rescue.' Harley is making me realize just how much joy a 'normal,' 'well-adjusted,' 'energetic,' 'happy' puppy can add to one's Life! (Not to mention such a good-looking one!) I want to sincerely thank you for allowed me to purchase Harley. Now, with your permission, I would like to register her as 'Harley EverAfter of Nordlicht.' Is that okay with you all????? And, yes, of course I'll keep you posted about her progress!!!! Thanks again. Sincerely,
Hi, this is Kevin Prentiss. My wife and I purchased a puppy from you this past weekend. I just wanted to say thanks again for the great little guy! He's adjusting quite well, better than I expected a new puppy his age to adapt. We're having the usual issues, potty training, teething, and such. Although we've had our share of small accidents, he seems to be figuring out the "bathroom is in the back yard" concept quickly. We found some appropriate toys for him to groom his teeth on, something other than my arm and hand! He's very quiet, we've had no whining at night at all. I've even had him out on a leash several times. He walks very well with me, no resistance or complaints. The real issue for us now is getting him to handle being alone for a few hours each day. We tried that yesterday (for the first time), it didn't go over very well. But we'll break him in slowly and (hopefully) wean him from having to be with someone every minute of the day. For your information, we named him "Remington", Remy for short. I'm sending his AKC paperwork in today.
I just cant say enough about this dog, this dog is simply awesome. I'm amazed !! Can you believe he's only been with me for only a little over a week and he knows how to do all these things. In fact I even catch my self not using hand motions sometimes and he still does them. Again, he has only been with us for 1 week and he is already gradually showing his first symptoms of being house broken. All of these things and all I do is praise him on everything -- I have used no effort on my part. I've only used the word 'NO' about 5 times since I've had him. Sergio
Hello Donna, I am Amber Emery the proud owner of your "Blue" puppy! We have named him Leopold (The Prince of the People) and we call him "Leo" for short. Dave and myself have been so happy with Leo and have taken every cautious step to make sure that he is brought up right, by taking a week off work and starting crate training, (which has been very successful!) to potty training, leash training, sitting and staying. Leo is now fetching a Frisbee (and bringing it back to us) and is getting used to daily walks on his leash. We are amazed daily by his abilities!
Hello, Maggie only had 2 females, one of them died later of born. The other is bigger and large, I think will be beautiful. Bad news, a little litter, only one female. About Blue, he is eating very good, he is playing and with a good health. He is resting all the time, no trainner in this moment, is younger for it. Now I know why you told me the best of this litter went the ears. Last saturday, Blue had the ears up and they continue ups. It´s great, they are large and in good position. He is very happy and with good temperament. His tail is wagging all time. He has a great body, back, and angulation. He is a very good mover. I know people will begin to talk about Blue like they made with Orion, but I made the homework with Orion and I don´t go to hear anybody. On a middle of the next month, we have a show and in this moment he is wonderful, he never has been like today, I think the change for Eagle Pack was the best for him. I´m sure he will win in august. What about you? are you fine? Thanks. Juan, your friend from Columbia, SA
,
Champion Cochise of Del Rey, an "Andretti" son. Without a doubt the finest
German Shepherd I've had the privilege to own. Cochise was handled by
Jerry Guzman and Bill Basu. In 1994 Cochise had open heart surgery due to
an infection of the pericardium, Dr. Thomas Lehue of Santa Cruz performed
the surgery. After an OK by the vet. Cochise completed his show career.
Following his show career he was trained and served as a search dog.
Cochise retired from search work at age 8. Nearing age 12 he is still
quite a dog. Special thanks to Select Champion Nike-Clayfield Andretti for
all he gave to Cochise. Thanks to Ray and in memory of Adele Johnson for
the Del Rey lines that also brought so much to this dog.
Special thanks to Bob Scholes, as it was Bob who got me into Shepherds
many years ago. Bob also finished another Del Rey dog for me, Champion
Smithfields Pacer, Pacer had one BOS out of the Working Group when handled
by Bob.
Finally, special thanks to "Cochise," my best friend!

I'm sure you guys will never know how much joy you bring into people's
lives by breeding such great dogs!
Hi,
The
breeding program is proven and
Sage is simply AWESOME.
From: "Tina Singer" <singertina@hotmail.com>
thank you for allowed me to purchase Harley.
There are two shows in November: November 15: Orange Coast- Charlotte LaRosa November 16: GSDC Long Beach- Bob Funk Tell me about these judges... Lahela should be alright by then. I may have Kathy Grey and Ken Tank help me start conditioning/exercising/training the brat once her shoulder is fused back together. We are on daily walks (she trys to go go go...) Talk about attitude (look at me!!!) BTW (quote from Marilyn, my friend): "She's beautiful, and she has a wonderful temperament and a winning personality. You are a lucky young woman. Call Robert and thank him again." Ya gotta love it!!! Jen Donna, Thanks for everything! Skyy is absolutely wonderful. Great temperament and outgoing. She eats like a bear. I will stay in touch and send you a picture of her next month. In the summer I plan on a search for a "Show" male. Let me know if you have any prospects. Fondly, Lisa Miller
Hi: I am sorry I have not written you in
such a long time. It has been a year of losses and sad news for me.
Still, I am sorry I did not get back to you sooner.
I wish I could send you a picture of Java
with this email, but need a new digital camera so can download picture.
She is more beautiful in disposition than anything else, though she is a
beautiful dog. She will be a year on the 24th.
I was not able to show her to your
disappointment, but I could not put the time in showing with supporting my
mother's illness and two small children.
I did stop training classes as you had
mentioned to me in one of our emails. You had told me just to let her
know the meaning of the word "no", and that is exactly what I did. She
learned very quickly with not an ounce of problem ---- she is just soooooo
smart.
I have had dogs in my life that I was very
bonded to, but Java has by far stolen my heart. She is such a calm loving
girl. She still follows me all over the place. I get so many compliments
on her disposition it is just alarming. Everyone asks where I got her and
I do tell them where I got her, but also add that I was indeed very very
lucky as you were hesitant about letting me have her.
I know you are disappointed that I was not
able to show her, but I hope it is comforting to know that she has a great
life and is loved by all of her family.
I will not forget to send you a picture of
Java as soon as I can download one.
I hope all is well with you and yours. Have
a great 2005.

Hi Donna,
Well we made it home ok actually it was better than that! That little pup did not cry at all! Six hours in that car one potty stop, no accidents and no crying! She did great and then when we got home Leo came out and welcomed her in. I am amazed at how there reaction was to each other Leo took to her almost immediately! He found a friend! Wow! Robert you were right he loves her! There were only two times that he showed his teeth but after that he lets her play with his toys, he shares his milk bones and is helping me potty train. I think that the best thing is they are trying to figure out a way to play with each other and with the size differences, it only took one time of Leo accidentally stepping on her to figure out to be careful, it is great he seems really excited about her. We are so happy with her and we have named her Lily, but most of the time I call her Lily-Bug! I don’t think that the size thing is going to be that big of a deal especially since my husband took what had you said to heart and went and got the Eagle Power Orange bag food, Goats milk and the Eagle soft food on Saturday. Then he has been feeding her three times a day and she still gets little chunks of cookies throughout the day as well and it seems it be working! She has gained a few pounds and I think that if we just watch her diet and supplements she will catch up in no time (just like you had said). If you have any more suggestions on what we could do for her that would be wonderful. I have already been boiling soup bones and cutting the fat off and giving them to her, but I can’t remember when you could do this. Her stool is fine so I have been too concerned. The big excitement in my house and with the neighborhood kids though is the COWS! They all think that was the coolest thing and if you lived just a tad closer I am sure that you would have plenty of help with them. I never thought teenagers would be so excited about cows! I had one boy ask me if we signed the cast another thought that it would be really cool if they could watch one be born! Please let me know how they are doing or Alex will nag me to death about it!
I cannot thank you and Donna enough for the wonderful afternoon of Cows, Puppies and a Great Lunch. It meant a lot to us and we are so lucky to have spent time with the both of you. It is a rarity to find such wonderful people that made you feel so genuinely welcome and willing to share their experiences with you. It meant a lot to us. Thank you!
Sincerely,
Amber
Hi Donna,
I just wanted to drop you an email and let you know how our new pup is doing after his first day in his new home. His new call name is “Summit”. Since he is going to be our hiking companion it should be very suiting. The drive home last night was a piece of cake. We stopped 4 times to let him do his business and get food and water. He took to the collar and leash with very little protest. He slept most of the way. It takes him less than 5 minutes to calm down and sleep when we put him in the crate. We took him out every 2-3 hours last night and today he is already going potty in the first minute or two we are out. No accidents in the house yet. The cats are keeping their distance and we aren’t rushing a thing. He shows no interest in them, thankfully. Summit took his first trip to the vet today. He checked out 100% perfect. Everyone there was very impressed with him. He is a little timid with new people, but we are going to do our best to socialize him a lot over the next couple of weeks. The vet recommended we give him 2 more rounds of shots, the next one in three weeks. We also got his last dose for worming and will give it to him at the end of the month. How often do you give worming medication? Just we he gets them in his stool? Everything is going very smooth. We bought a bag of Eagle Pack, the orange bag, and a few toys. Fetching his tennis ball is his favorite so far.
Both of us are truly amazed at how quickly he is learning already. He is an angel. Thank you so much for giving us this wonderful puppy. Summit is going to be an amazing dog. Once we get some pictures we will certainly send you a good one.
Thank you,
Vilnis & Tami
We got
home today around noon, He did wonderful. Last night when we got to my
parents house he was very scared and did not want to do anything but
hide...after a bought an hour he started eating some dry food and
drinking and went potty outside........
He then
became a new dog....it was amazing.......I slept on the floor with him
last night as I did not have a crate and put a collar on him and leash
and attached it to my and so I could tell if he got up and needed
out......He woke up at 1:00 and 3:00 and all he wanted was a drink of
water and then back to bed, He slept until 6:30am and I then woke him up
and took him out.....
He did
not like riding in the car at all, but after we got on our way home he
layed on my leg and slept all the way home.......
He gets
alone great with our dogs here and they think he is different but are
more curious than anything......
We are
now home and he is thinking chasing the cats is already pretty cool, so
we are going to have to work on that one right away...he has gone to the
bathroom since we have been home and at this time is laying under my
desk as I type...
OH and we
think we might have a name for him. We were telling my mom that Donna
liked Brew for a name and if she is not going to use it we thought
Brew Meister would be kinda cool.........and then call
him Brew.....
Thanks
again for this wonderful puppy. I still feel like I am in my dream and
have not woke up.......
Lisa
Hi, I tried to send you some pictures of
Venus. I hope they went thru. Technology is beyond me. At the vet last
week Venus weighted 30 pounds. He is starting to realize that she is an
exceptionally bright dog. She doesn't like him. Tuesday night was
another obedience school class. Everyone comments on her ears. They
stay things like, How do you get her ears to stand up like that? or Did
your dog have surgery to make her ears stand up? She loves to play with
the smaller dogs but shies away from the big ones. Her friend is a Jack
Russell Terrier. She does alot of jumping and barking to try to play
with him. At home she endlessly chases our cay. The cat is very
athletic. She is a woodpile cat. She climbs a tree when she has to and
Venus will bark and wait (until she is distracted by anything else) for
her to come down. Sometimes the cat will swat Venus with her paw and
claws across the nose. This does not deter Venus. Venus is very good
with me. She travels around in the truck and never bothers much except
her toys. My wife loves her and works with her alot. Venus appears
jealous of some of her activities. For instance when Nita plants certain
plants Venus will watch and later try to chew up the plants. Likewise
when Nita tries to read the newspaper at night Venus will go out of her
way to attack and shred the newspaper. Otherwise she never bothers a
paper. Hope all is well on your move. Jim
Donna,
I just had to write and tell you what a
truly wonderful dog Corey has grown up to be. He has always been a great
house dog. You never even know he's around unless someone comes to the
door. We walk three or four times a day through the pastures and he
always stays pretty close to me. He will run up ahead and then circle
back around me. Well, this morning we were walking in our side pasture
between the woods and the next farm when two does jumped out of the
hedge row in front of him. He was a couple of hundred feet ahead of me
and I had visions of him headed for God knows where. He was in flight in
a split second. The stupid deer froze where they were and all I could
think of to do was yell his name. He turned right around in mid stride
and came running back to me with that goofy smile on his face. He is a
dog of such character. He has a strong drive, but an even stronger
ethic. He has never had any type of obedience training and comes to me
simply because he wants to. He just bopped along next to me all the way
back to the house wagging his tail. I just love this dog. He always
seems almost one step ahead of what I want from him. If I set up the
grooming table he is sitting on it waiting for me and so many other
little things like that. I honestly have to say that he is the measure
of what makes a great dog in my book.
I think Abby is pregnant. She is either
going to die, pregnant or at the very least thinks she is. She has been
leaving part of her food the last couple of days and this morning she
wouldn't eat at all. Just wants to run back and forth with her giggle
ball. This is a bitch that would eat anything that didn't eat her first.
I just had to tell you about Corey. This
line produces the best all around animals I have ever seen. Beauty with
brains to match.
Donna
Robert...I am engrossed in your web site..such
a well thought well put together site the likes I don't think I have ever

more in the not so distant future...I have not read such straight forward
easy to understand and entertaining work ...probably ever...I was on the
edge of my chair during your fishing trip...I could almost transpose my
self to the location...so...please..let me know when or where I can get
more. Thanks very much for putting so much time thought and effort into
your site for all to see..I greatly appreciate it and imp soaking up as
much as I can like a sponge...Thanks again..Kim
